Minimum Swim Proficiency Requirement
Walnut Country Swim Team is not a learn-to-swim program, and WCST practices are not a substitute for swim lessons, especially for swimmers who have not yet mastered all four competitive strokes. To safely participate, swimmers must meet the minimum swim skills requirement for their program.
To participate in Stingrays (swim team: 6 & Unders* and above):
- Swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards unassisted.
*6 & Unders is the competition age group for swimmers between the ages of 3- and 6-years old. They must meet the minimum swim skill requirement for Stingrays to participate.
To participate in Little Rays (pre-team):
- Swimmers must be comfortable in the water and potty-trained.
- Swimmers must be comfortable putting their head and face in the water.
- Swimmers must be able to hold their breath for 2-3 seconds under the water.
- Swimmers must be able to swim 3-5 yards independently (any stroke, including dog-paddle)
