WCST Spring Clinic 2026

Walnut Country Swim Team Spring Clinic is a great way to help your swimmers shake out the cobwebs and prepare themselves for the summer rec. competition season. For new swim team families, it’s a great way to try out summer rec. swim - unlike during the summer rec. competition season, there are no swim meets during the Spring and Fall clinics, so there's no parent volunteer commitment for Spring Clinic swimmers.

* The tentative clinic practice groupings and times listed are subject to change based on the number and composition of the swimmers who register. If we have too many swimmers in a practice group and need to split it up, or too few swimmers in a practice group and need to consolidate it with another group, your swimmers' practice times may shift from the tentative practice times currently posted. We will communicate changes to the tentative schedule as early as possible, and do our best to accommodate requests to transfer your swimmers between practice times in the event that practice schedule changes are required. To keep the swimmers safe, and to preserve the harmony and effectiveness of practices, individual swimmer transfers between practice times must be approved by the WCST Board of Directors in consultation with Head Coach Kim. If you need to request a transfer to a practice time other than the one assigned, please email [email protected] to submit a practice time transfer request for your swimmer to the WCST Board.

Spring Clinic FAQs

Q1: Do I need to reside in the Walnut Country neighborhood (aka, The Crossings) or be a member of their homeowners association (Cowell HOA) for my swimmers to be eligible?

A1: Nope! WCST programs are open to youth swimmers aged 3-18, regardless of where they live or whether their families are Cowell HOA members. We have swimmers joining us from other neighborhoods in Concord, Walnut Creek, Clayton, Pittsburg and other cities.

Note - Registration fees for WCST programs cover facilities access during WCST practices and events only. There are no additional pool use fees for families who reside outside of the Walnut Country neighborhood or are not Cowell HOA members, but they don't have access to the pool or other CHOA facilities OUTSIDE of WCST practices and events.

Q2: Is Spring Clinic 2026 open to Little Rays (or pre-team swimmers from other teams)?

A2: Regrettably, no. We're not expecting to have swimmer-coaches available in the water to assist pre-team swimmers for Spring Clinic 2026. All Spring Clinic 2026 participants will need to be able to swim 25 yards of freestyle without assistance. Swimmer-coaches will be available for the summer program.

Q3: How well do the kids need to be able to swim to participate in Spring Clinic?

A3: All Spring Clinic participants must be able to swim 25 yards of freestyle (1 length of our pool) without assistance. If you're not sure about your swimmer, email [email protected], and we'll set up a swim test for your swimmer.

Q4: Are there other fees on top of registration fees associated with Spring Clinic that I should consider (e.g., pool-use fee, or pool membership)?

A4: Nope! There are no pool-use fees of any kind, and Cowell HOA (who rents us scheduled use of their pool and facilities for our practices and events) does not offer pool memberships. Swimmers enrolled in WCST programs have access to the pool for practice and WCST events during their program. At all other times, they must be guests of Cowell HOA members.

Q5: Is WCST's Spring Clinic open to swimmers from other teams?

A5: Absolutely! Making new friends on other teams is half the fun and we welcome swimmers from other summer rec teams during our Spring Clinic!

Q6: Is there an expectation that my swimmer will swim every day of the clinic?

A6: Nope! There are no minimum attendance requirements. Many of our clinic swimmers are juggling multiple after school activities and do not attend every practice. More time in the pool almost always translates into more progression, so we encourage swimmers to attend practice as consistently as practical, but our feeling is that missing a little practice is a good thing if it helps make space to explore a variety of interests or provides a mental and physical break from swim that helps preserve their enjoyment of the sport over the long term.

Q7: My swimmer would like to participate in Spring Clinic, but will only be able to participate for two of the four days per week. Can you prorate the fees?

A7: Regrettably, no. We're a parent volunteer-led nonprofit, and we're not set up to support that kind of pricing flexibility for our programs.

Q8: Is there a volunteer jobs requirement for Spring Clinic?

A8: Nope! For the summer program, we have meets and social events that require our whole community of parent volunteers to pull together. But for Spring and Fall Clinic, there is no volunteer jobs requirement.
